The point of penalty systems is to make you careful and appreciate what you gain, as well as to prevent gathering.
1. REPAIR. Tested, tried, please revise. Currently your items need repair or they get damaged and eventually destroyed. I've suggested this before but I'd like to put it out there as a request this time: - Instead of making items permanently lose durability or getting destroyed, please make the repair system so that if an item gets "out of order" it's just not equippable until repaired. Also there is something about the higher level items Lore said that bothers me, that there are not sufficient enough kits to repair them? Unequip is the cleanest way in my opinion. - Plot items should be immune to repair issues. It is up to the dm's decision which items are marked plot, common sense applied of course. I'm not marking Pelgrin's armour plot just so that he doesn't need to take care of it, obviously.
2. DEATH. I agree that death is too harsh, it should be something to be avoided. Something horrible. And we should all be thankful to grandpa Zan for letting us come back down. Currently if you die the following things happen to you:
- You get ported to the Otherworld. - You run a mile from Entry Point to Exit. - You lose a faith token and a bunch of xp and gp. - You return and it hurts, you have to pay to get cured from rez sickness.
2a. I have been checking the integrity of this system and found the following:
- Getting ported there is simply a setting-specific thing, in itself that and the running shouldn't be much of a problem. - GP Loss and XP Loss are part of it being painful. However, currently you can lose below your current level if I'm not mistaken.
2b. I would like the death system revised to the following: - Time taken in death increased: You are encumbered and cannot run in the death plane unless you are immune to movement hamster effects. - Laying on the floor, recovering for three seconds when ported in or out of the death plane unless immune to movement hamster effects. - Keep the negative effects and the faith token loss thing, add an "I want to rest in peace" option to Zan's convo, character deletion. - GP Penalty: 10% of all the gold you carry. - XP Penalty: Levels 1-10 - 50% of what you have above last level. So if you are level 2 you have 3000xp, you grinded some so you have 3500xp, you died you are down to 3250xp. Levels 11-20 - Down to the last level square. No level loss possible. Levels 21-30 - 7% of your total xp. Levels 31-40 - 13% of your total xp. - Dying from pvp does not put you through all this, instead it ports you to the starting zone unless you were in a battle ground and you won't be able to enter the realm for 3 minutes.
