"When we come to think of it, my friends, there is indeed little we know about these lands." said Thorlin to the group that was listening to him. "But of course, more is known then you think" said the gnome again, with a typical grin on his face as he started his story.
The Roburan Highlands is a large region, mostly stretched out over the mountains, the valleys and some surrounding grasslands that consists of various tribes. High in the mountain, in the coldest regions, lives the harsh and solitairy clan of Algarsson. Clan Algarsson is the smallest, yet it consists of purely warriors that, for barbarians, go pretty far on their discipline to the group and survival of the fittest. Obviously coming from the religion of the Lord of Terror, these men and woman are an elite regiment of the Northern Kingdom's army, only rarely called upon.
In the forests, on the lower slopes of the mountains, lives a spread out clan that is a nameless one. Most of it's families live in small enclaves, using the trees to build small cottages that shelter them from the ice cold wind. They never stay in one place too long, constantly travelling. These conclaves are small Kempai's, or so they call themselves. And I have heard various rumours that these brave warriors bond themselves with animal spirits, called totems, as a final test before adulthood. Of course, we could also just call them sylvans.
The third clan is the most fearsome to the public, Rabio's Tribesmen, Clan Angroth, named after their first clan-head, Angroth Nurrdar, who, as historians claim, had orcish blood. Whether or not that was true, his legacy is obvious on these Roburans, as their temper is hot, their blood boils quickly and their aggressionsbeats that of all the others combined. They are a moving tribe, living in tents, always feeding them self of the harvest and livings of the others. They take what they need, or want, and do such with cruel violence.
On Dragonspine Mountain, in a hidden valley, lives a fourth clan. This is by far, the weirdest of them all. Consisting of a mix of humans and half-elves, or, with barbarian's habits, little to no pure blooded humans, or elves, this tribe is the most sophisticated, feeding from farmlands, using their satisfactory hidden village to stay out of the war. Of course their warriors are always on guard, because Clan Aggroth appears to try and conquer their valley every so often. The only entrance being a small ridge between high mountain slopes, has so far kept them protected.
The last tribe is by far, the greatest and the well-known one. Led by the Barbarian princess Shauliel, these are the robust, strong-hearted warriors that fight with lightning bolts painted on their face. They are the mayor target of Clan Angroth and the two are almost in constant war. These warriors follow Mannaru the Thunderer, known to be an Avatar of the Overlord himself. This tribe has a large village, covering the slopes of three connecting mountains, and as such, is often an easy target. Formerly, this clan was separated into the Northern and Southern village, where culture was very different. The Northern village was mostly aimed towards cattle, large, strong bulls, oxes and horses. While the Southern part was somewhat connected to Zheradan, having large farmlands on the mountain slopes. Under Shauliel, these two village grew together into a powerful military force.
