Sun - Domorus (Lawful Neutral) - The Burning King
Dogma:
Domorus stands for law and order over the land. Most paladins belong under his reign and his worship is firm and powerful. Being a distant deity , he uses his Sphinxes , lead by Raahn Ruul , his Arch-Messenger, to intervene if need be.
Domorus is a powerful deity , with a powerful city under his aegis...
Solinar
General:
Solinar is a lawful city , mainly worshipping Domorus, the Greater God of Law. Guards are usually religious and lawful(neutral or good) people, brave yet flawed people with a sense of humour that applies to anything from a priest tripping in his own cape to a dog pissing at the flowers. Anything but law. Because if something is against the law, they tend to get in your hair.
Anything but law until they happen to be facing one of the legendary heroes, or a beautiful woman. Because , as most human males, they do have an issue with arresting a woman that they can't stop staring at. Rest assured, the right bust size can cause a serious hitch in this machine of law. This causes some trouble in general with female members of the city guard , who may whack their male counterparts on the head for such an attitude.
They do enjoy the trouble Tammy or Anni can cause for the men though, since there's always something of a tension about knightly machoness. Anni befriended most female guards , why wouldn't she, especially Suzy in the eastern central whom she can chat hours long with, about various issues from fashion through warfare to how dull men are in this city.
Citizens of Solinar are regular human folks with the regular daily activities of working, gossiping, and getting ass drunk in their sparetime. This leads to barfights. But if this doesn't, Anni does. She has a thing for starting forest fires in the concrete jungle, if there is such a thing as concrete. But anyway, if there is such a thing as "above law" , heroes and villains of the higher reputation do get that in Solinar. Simply because the feebleminded have no power over the might of a +5 sword or a short skirt. Unfortunately.
Solinar's people generally bow down to the Ghazakiin, and show some fear-spiced respect whenever they meet one. Not because they're so considerate of age , but because they know that messing with them is just simply asking for trouble. Of course this is the majority. Some people do try to approach them with some less fear and more respect, or curiousity.
The regular approach to legendary people is milord or milady. The exception is Anni, who kicks if called that constantly Wink
There's a tendency of male inhabitants to drool 'til mouth runs dry if they see her, and her statue is a popular sight for the younger male population.
This of course goes for most prettier legendary females such as Sylestia.
Legendary characters draw the attention of children. If they're being spotted that is. But Rithien enjoys a regular 2d4-12 group of kids whenever she takes to enter the city. Anni usually gets ex lovers needing a good reminding of their status as ex- and thugs not having had enough pain in the pants. Other legendary heroes do get the attention compared to their deeds. (Here I'm asking for every legendary character to do bother writing their adventures to the biographies page, the more the merrier.)
Religion:
Domorus' worship prays at every sunrise for spells. The ritual is called Calling to the Rising Sun, and is performed with the ritual lighting of firebowls and torches near the temple.
Solinar's religious order belongs to the all time high cleric. The high cleric trains an acolyte who is to become the next high cleric.
The order consists of clerics and battle priests. Clerics preach, educate and heal while battle priests are meant to protect and investigate cases of disease, undead, vampires and the like. Clerics are definitely more pious than battle priests who also have a somewhat lower moral.
Clerics have the domains sun and healing, while battle priests sun and fire or sun and war.
Prayer of the Rising Sun:
Where there is darkness, let there be light.
Where there is faith, be the Burning King's might.
For the word of Domorus, I may live or may die
May Faith be my steel, His law be my guide.
The prayer is chanted in choral in front of the temple after all the torches and bowls are lit again.
Rite to the Eternal Fire:
Through the Gates we pass, into the flame
Our candle put out, we're out of the game
Where shall one end it, our Lord only knows
But from our ashes, a new life it grows.
Domorus demands that the corpse of a true believer must be burnt and the ashes must be thrown into his gardens. The reason for this is said to be that throwing the dead body to fire relieves the soul so it may reach to the Valhalla to meet Domorus himself and serve before his throne. In reality it has to do with the Curse infecting most corpses it reaches.
Remarkable npcs:
Pater Andrew Domian - Calls most legendary heroes younger than him "child" often chuckles cheerfully and loves apple pie.
The high cleric of domorus is usually appointed by the previous high cleric on his dying bed , or the first Acolyte becomes such after the untimely death of the above.
The Acolyte - A reserved man with a kind smile on his face, this young man has an immense crush on Raeriel.
Dennis O'Shea - A responsible man with the responsibility to keep the city clean of disease and help the adventurers in any way he can. He speaks proper english, barely interested in gold only collecting it for the church and likes listening to music - which is the only reason he can stand that job for: Turlin is nearby and they're rather good friends.
((A note on remarkable npcs: if I didn't list one here and you DMs happened to give one a personality, let the others know. I either forgot to mention how that person is, or you've just made a great contribution to the overall picture.
Other Organizations:
- City Guard / Regional Sentry
At the disposal of the governor, at all times , is the city guard. (lawful neutral most of the time, fighters) They are highly trained men and women proficient with the spear, They are responsible for the enforcement of law and order within the city walls. They're regular people with regular flaws.
The regional sentry's duties are on a larger scale. They represent the army of Solinar, elite warriors proficient with the great sword. They have the right to judge and enforce all across the land of solinar, including areas outside the city.
Remarkable NPCs:
Suzy in the East Central is a good friend of Anni and idolizes Rithien. See above.
Corporal Charlie Bennethen is a loud man that's afraid in the dark.
The two guards at the western gate usually get their day made by Anni bending over to the fountain. Makes them drop their spear and dignity. They also hate Tammy like nothing, and tend to chase the two talking dogs Fluffy and Kushi around when they bathe in the fountain.
Guard Captain Reynolt is good friends with Glortor'Rai Glaurd'Har, still referring to him as "Lord" and usually blushes a deeper shade of red being called Little Vic who Fell in the Well by Shaylan and hugged the life out of him. He speaks quickly and bluntly. Get his style from his conversation .
- Order of the Rising Sun
Founded by the Kusanagi dynasty, the order also known as the Order of the White Monks or the Sunrise Fist Order practices japanese art of bushido, karate and judo. Their techniques usually use pure force of strength and tend to focus on crushing the enemy. This has to do with their arts being specialized against undead. Nevertheless, they aren't nearly as effective as the Zheradan style , that of course they won't admit to. They respect Anni by the name of "The Fiery Cat" and they do fear her "rising kick of pain" like every other opponent that doesn't bother giving it such a fancy name, does.
Remarkable NPCs:
Kenjiro: (Kenji)He's a reserved man who usually nods or shakes head if talked to. Gives brief answers and says Hai for yes. He's patient and friendly.
Heishiro: (Shiro) Also a reserved man whose answers vary from "Hrm" to "Mrhn" and loves rice.
The two girls tend to giggle, be nice and blush. They usually speak in questions. "You punch harder, so you hurt them more, ne?"
- The White Order
The order of white mages are conjuror wizards. Their current leader is Thorlian until Pentephraxis manages to get over his momentary loss of memory.
Remarkable NPCs:
Thorlian the white speaks proper english, idolizes Shandalan and is pretty much fond of any knowledge that's not harmful to the innocent. He often helps adventurers with quests but he may forget whom he helped before, unless the person is legendary. But then he just forgot WHAT he helped them with.
