The Hero's Lament
A part of 'The Songs of The North Collection', by Sammal Ynand))
By Sammal Ynand
Forward:
This song was written by me for a Lord of the Blasted North and is about one of their more famous legends. The Fall of the Knight Pendragoon and his forces and how their sacrifice ended the rise of one of their Villains, The 'Dark Child' of their god of Death.
The dead rise.
The prophecy,
On your alliance falls.
Empty of hope,
No regrets.
All hatreds are ignored.
Forward against the darkness.
The futures unknown.
Never to die in defeat,
No one man stands alone.
Await the horn! The oncoming storm! Let come what may, The bodies of the dead will rise today.
Pendragoon,
The chosen one,
Of our alliance leads.
In his hand,
The glorious hand,
The Bane-Spear he wields!
Standing against the Dark Child,
On a field of bone.
Doomed to die in victory,
No one man shall go home!
Hear the horn! The oncoming storm! Let come what may! The bodies of the dead we fight today!
The Dark Child,
Of the God of Death;
An army of dead he calls!
"Into the battle!"
He commands,
Down the ambush falls!
Charging against the Dark Child,
Pendragoon roars!
Both to die in defeat,
To die for their cause!
The silenced horn! The passing storm! They won the day! Their bodies in their death they now lay!
The Dark Child
And Pendragoon,
In that battle fell!
Now is peace
Across the land
While the brave all live in Hell!
They stood against the Dark Child,
In that field of bone.
All died in defeat,
No one man did go home!
