A Draconic Language Primer:
Beginners' Lessons In Speaking And Writing Draconic

Basics
The Draconic language is a complicated one. Pronunciation is key in any draconic discussion and placing the emphasis on the wrong portion of a word can change its' entire meaning. Scholars intending to learn draconic will find this Primer suitable for the basics and for consultation during text translation, but more advanced works will need to be sought if one intends to become fluent.

Because of the complicated nature of Draconic the linguist must be very careful in how he goes about the reading this primer. Below you shall find an example of how the entries into this primer shall be set out, but a little additional information must be first understood.

In the case that a word has a dash following the written method, it is an additional sound to be added onto the following word. A perfect example of this is the letter 'a', often used in the Solinarian dialect. If one was to say 'a dog' in draconic, the draconic for 'dog' being 'Tyy', they would write; 'e-tyy', or say; 'HEH-TU-Rer-REH'.

In many cases a Scholar will note that a Draconic word will take on new spoken sounds if it is to be followed by another word. Using the example of the dog above, if we were to say that we had 'a dog left', we would write 'E-tyyk chiw', notice how 'tyy' (dog) has become 'tyyk'. This is known as 'right of way', if a word is to follow another, it must first be given 'right of way' in the manipulation of the previous word.
