I have set a handful of firm rules for players to be eligible for my DMing any further in Ancestral Legacy. These rules are in place so that conflicts which would disturb the flow of events are dealt with on the entry level and done away with right on the spot.
The reason why I need to do this:
- Previously there have been many conflicts during the game that interrupted or often meant the end of the event.
- Previously some people did not respect the rest of us.
- Experience shows that it feels better if you cook your own food - if you put effort into this it will be a lot more enjoyable.
Rules regarding myself:
1. I have been doing this for years, I know what I'm doing.
2. My intention is to tell a story; similar to what you may have read in fantasy books, seen in movies, comicbooks, Anime cartoons.
3. My goal is to have fun: I have created something, I want to share it.
4. Not all characters will make it alive, even fewer unscarred. But I will by no means abuse the DM console.
5. I do what I see is best even if many may disagree. My firm point of view can only be debated when I give space for that.
6. I'll try to always be there on time.
Rules regarding you, the players:
1. You will have to believe me when I say: I know what I'm doing. And trust it.
2. You will have to be In Character in the story and not go OOC if your OOC desires do not match with the IC events.
3. Your goal is to have fun. You can best achieve that by trying to see what is it that you can contribute, not what you may win.
4. This is role playing, even though the medium is Online Gaming. The only space you will get for your OOC opinion is that which I give during intervals, at the start and at the end of each event.
5. Even if you have a point to raise or feel mistreated, please voice facts and not feelings. As sympathetic as I can be, I will not deal with rants based on grudges during my dm hours with this plotline. Complaints can be posted on the forums, opinions however, are welcome with me during ooc breaks.
6. Please be there on time. We'll set the time so that everybody can be there.
Rules regarding the events
1. Players may only enter the event by my hand. No coming by, falling in, teleporting in or barging into the room. - This is to avoid mass confusion.
2. If I say you are out, you are out. I'm not going to put up a debate. If your behavior warrants being removed from the event, that is all we want to see of you for the day.
- This is to avoid me putting the keyboard down and picking up a drawing pad. I'm not letting anybody ruin the role play of others with selfish childishness.
3. Events last as long as they do. I'm going to start on time and finish on time. Please last it out and do not leave in the middle of it as it kills plot.
4. Teamwork is essential. You may be IC-foolish but then do not complain if the party leaves you behind.
