Description:

The halfling before you stands with an arrogant pose. Her composure most of the time being that of one who knows what she's doing. Shoulder length black hair shimmers a blueish hue at times. Her eyes are dark, dark blue. Her skin is pale, though she looks healthy enough. Her clothing is mostly black, and skin tight. Two blades remain always at her side. Other items are attached to her in various places both visible and hidden. Her mouth is in a constant smirk. She walks with a light step, and shaded movements.

If you ask in the underworld for Avara Bestenson, You'll mostly get smirks and questions of why you're looking for such a cowardly, incompetant little girl. If you ask for Shade, mouths clam up and people point you away warning you against following such a path.

On her public appearances she has a tendency to be at least sociable, talkative. But her private life? Well perhaps that's best left private.

A cold, bitter wind blew over the cliff to the east of Myst Forest, the sky clear, the water rushed against the stone walls sending sprays of water up and over the edge.

The sound of panting grew louder, footsteps pounding on the floor as twigs and brush snapped underfoot. A human male around five foot with brown hair tied back in a pony tail, black loose fitting clothes and leather shoes ran into the area, skidding to a stop at the cliff edge. His eyes wide in panic as he clutched an object in his hands.

"Oh by the grace of the gods no. Shit, I must have taken a wrong turn. Shit shit shit."

He spun on the spot, eyes wildly searching, scanning the area.

"I believe 'ou 'ave zomesing, I vant."

The man froze, turned to face the opening he had come out of as a small, hooded, black shadow slowly, and with purposeful steps, walked forward.

"I ... I don't know what you're talking about?" Eyes wild, looking for escapes.

"Oh yez 'ou do," She motioned towards the object in his hand. "Giv' me eet."

"No, no you can't have it," Suddenly his hand darts to his belt, pulling out what looks like a light crossbow with mechanisms attached. He aims it to her. "Don't come any closer."

The shadow took one more step.

Fwoosh, the bolt flew out of it's nest as the man pulled the trigger, attached to a chain which itself was attached to the crossbow, it became apparent that the weapon was a grappling hook gun.

The shadow dodged to one side, grabbing the chain as it flew past she yanked the gnomish contraption out of the man's hand and it flew to the floor with a clatter. His eyes grew wide as the shadow once again stepped towards him. He backed away, his feet growing ever closer to the edge of the cliff.

The shadow repeated itself again, slowly, taking time with each word. "Giv' me eet."

"No." The man turned, made to throw the object out to sea.

He froze as blood began trickling down the back of his neck, making a red stream starting from a small dagger sticking out of the back of his head. He shook violently as pain exploded within him. Struggling to breathe from the muscle spasms the messages running through his body were causing.

Slowly the object fell from his hand, caught by the shadow now standing behind him. Sliding the object into her pack she turned and left the frozen man, who slowly toppled over the cliff into the sea below. The sound of his body hitting the water drowned out by another wave smashing against the cliff.

The shadow disappeared back into the forest, into the darkness, picking up the grappling hook as she went.

"Sank'ou"

Diary Entry:

So, the curse is here again is it? This sounds as though it could get interesting. I wonder, who's side shall we all be on. If the villain succeeds, those on his side might get riches, power. If the heroes succeed they will get renowned, glory and won't die. But does one such as me wish to be renowned? To be known throughout the land for what I do? Ha. Perhaps not. Or perhaps if I am known as a hero, doing my job will be easier.

Who knows? Perhaps it is time to find out the benefits, stories and answers to the questions that fill my heart with this news.

Perhaps it is also time to decide what to do about the object that is still in my pack. I am curious to know why it is of such value to it's owner, and why the thief would rather it be lost than given back. Perhaps it is sentimental, but perhaps, perhaps there is something else.

I do not understand the world. But I know one thing:

To survive is to live. To be able to continue our lives one more day at a time. If I have to do good and beat the "Villains" to survive, so be it. If I can work both sides to my advantage though. I ponder the possibilities of that path. The favours owed, the prices paid, I am not a good person, but every action of course has a reaction.

Perhaps, the path will be laid bare before me.

The sun slowly began it's descent through the sky over Solinar's Southern Plains as Avara, Shade, crept into the fields. Coming across what was rumoured to be a common occurance nowadays. I clash between pale-masters and necromancers, she had heard of these fights through her contacts. The pale-master being Keldrin Mortanis and the necromancer a man named Zorthanos. She cared little for their argument but watched anyway as each threatened the other and pointed out weakspots. The argument soon became disrupted though as a piercing scream deafened her. Hoardes and hoardes of undead swarmed the area and Avara soon found herself dying multiple times. Each one rescued by Illani.

It was hopeless and she tried to flee, only, Avara, tried to pull her the other way, Shade knew the safest way was in the city, but for a few moments she paused, not-knowing. This pause was to be fatal for a spell came towards her which she didn't see, but she heard, she fell to the floor, dead.

When she awoke, she was surrounded by people, within the city, pondering on their situation. Healing, praying, arguing. Tammy was there, and Pelgrin, Keldrin, Zorthanoz, Galiae, Illani, and several others. All giving their own points of view, when a huge fire started in the North, a meteor falling from the sky. Avara had to smirk, for in disaster there was opportunity, she decided to tag along when they followed it. Stopped by raging fires on the way, the heroes decided to try and put it out. Though, why she didn't know, there were plenty of civilians to do that job, they should be heading to the disaster zone, even Tammy agreed, but of course, no-one would listen to the ones who hid in shadows. Not until one of their own suggested it, after the fire was put out.

Heading North, they came across the path the meteor had taken, leading past the Gates, past the ravine leading north to the northern seaside. There, it was found, stood massive pillars, those that were like the ones in Moon'Thar, summoning skeletons forever. More than that though, the spires seemed to stop everyone's magic. It wasn't long before Avara died again, and was ressurected by Illani. She was growing tired of it, needed more power, but then again, that was the whole point of this little tag-along. To see what power could be gained, what rewards would be found.

And then it happened:

From the sky appeared a man burning. Domorus, the Burning King, the God of Solinar city. Stood upon the clifftop in a rage, fires began burning and the night sky was lit up destroying the undead that were attacking. It was a quick victory, a quick respite. For no sooner had the undead gone, than Devils began attacking, Lucifer appeared, taunting Domorus. The words were quickly exchanged as they flew into an attack, Avara watching with a smirk, wondering which would come out on top. Toppled momentarily by the quakes the fight had caused.

Hoardes of Undead swarmed in from the forest, attacking the Devils in the seaside, battle raged on in front of the heroes eyes. It was quickly decided to retreat.

Back outside the Northern gates, the heroes ran for the gates. Only to be stopped again by quakes and two new visions. From the ground rose a man, no, a demon. Bulging muscles, naked as the day, winged, chains slid off his body as he lowered towards them. Speaking quickly to the ones in front as Avara watched from behind, a new player, potential new rewards, it was all so overwhelming.

Iscariot also appeared, and together they spoke of Seals, seven heroes born to save the world. They told how they must be found before Lucifer could be sent back to hell. It was interesting to say the least.

And then it ended, with the two gone, the heroes scattered back into the city, to rest, to run, to search. Each to their own. Avara slid into the shadows, heading towards her room. It was again time to prepare, tomorrow she would seek out a number of people, objects and preparations.

Tomorrow, she would not die.

Diary Entry:

*There seem to be a number of scribbles which represent Pro's and Con's according to Avara.*

Heroes = Pros: Survival, Knowledge, possible power from Domorus, Asgaaroth, Contacts, potential protection and leverage when doing evil deeds. Cons: Renown, being a goody two shoes, killings more noticable.

Lucifer = Pros: Power, Rewards, Protection, Control. Power. Cons: May be defeated which would mean certain death. May turn on me.

The seals seem to be key, whoever offers most might sway me I suppose. It depends, I wonder how events could be influenced within the coming days.

*The pen seems to mark the page a moment as if she was going to write something else, but just trails off along the page.*
