Yeah I think I am gonna share cheap and easy to make receipe here. And if you have questions about things you'd like to know in general on cooking, there is the place to do so.
"Meat loaf"
That's my mom's reciepe, real simple, rather easy and good, if you are a poor student as I was, few years ago.
1 pound of ground beef
1 onion
1 can of tomato soup
1 egg
1 handfull of oatmeal
salt,pepper,any seasoning you like
Real simple, mixt all those ingrediants with your hands(makes a better mixing, to my opinion) and set it in something that can go to the stove. You can give it a "bread" shape, and cook it likes 30 mins at 350 F.
It's a cheap and easy recipe, when you are alone and reasonable, you have at least 3 meals.
Genoise cake
That's a more complicated recipe and a bit costy, and sorry for americans, that recipe is mesured in grams
(gives two cakes)
You need a mixer with a bowl
360 g of eggs
180 g of sugar
180g of flour (normal one, without any baking powder or salt in it)
vanilla (optional)
This gives 2 white cakes. If you want to make a Chocolate genoise, just remove 60 g of flour and replace it by Cacao powder.
Pre-heat the stove at 350 F
First, mixt up the egg and the sugar in the mixter's bowl, and heat them up (on a pot with hot water, or boiling) until you don't feel any coldness when you touch it(not hot but warm), stir it up or the eggs will be cooked and the cake won't work.
Then you set the bowl on the mixter and mixt the eggs and sugar high speed during 11 minutes.
After that, you remove the bowl and add the flour in three parts(means you put 1/3 of the flour, mixt,2nd part, mixt, 3rd part, mixt), VERY VERY slowly, mixing with a whip
Then you take 2 cake pans, and you cover the inside of it with with butter and flour (very thin layer of flour) and put the mixture in it, set them in the stove and bake until the center springs up when you touch it. (usually 20-25 mins)
After, take them out of the pans and let them cool down . after you can add what ever you feel like, chocolate mousse or what ever pleases you.
